Self Referral

Most referrals to other specialists will require you seeing or speaking with a GP. However, there are a number of local services, listed below, that you are able to make self referrals to.

Wheelchair service

The wheelchair service provides wheelchairs for long term use to increase people’s mobility and independence.

Talk Changes

We offer a wide range of tried and tested talking therapies. These involve talking with a trained professional to help you work out how to deal with negative thoughts and feelings and make positive changes.

Smokefree Hackney

Smokefree Hackney is your local NHS stop smoking service, and we are continuing our work to help smokers quit during the pandemic: as we cannot currently see smokers in person we are running telephone and email support and advice sessions and arranging to supply stop smoking medications via local pharmacies.

Antenatal Care

We provide maternity care for nearly 6000 women and their babies each year, during pregnancy, labour, birth and up until one month after birth. During and after pregnancy, we offer both midwifery-led and consultant-led care and our teams are multidisciplinary which means all the care you need is provided within the maternity wards. Our midwives look after women at the hospital antenatal clinic, at local GP surgeries and children’s centres.

Podiatry

The Podiatry service specialises in assessing and treating problems of the lower limb particularly of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists aim to maintain and promote good foot health within the population of Hackney in order to help sustain mobility, independence and reduce pain.

Come Correct

We are now part of the Come Correct scheme and offer in-house contraception for all patients under 25's for FREE. Enquire during your next visit to the practice!

NUPAS (national unplanned pregnancy advisory service)

We offer abortion treatments and free pregnancy testing, sexually transmitted infection screening and a fully comprehensive contraceptive service.

Find a psychological therapies service in England

You can refer yourself directly to a psychological therapies service (IAPT) without seeing your GP. These services offer therapies, such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), for common problems including: stress, anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and phobias

NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme

The Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (NHS DPP) identifies those at diabetes high risk and refers them onto a behaviour change programme.
