Practice Nurses
Deborah John (f) – Practice Nurse
Deborah works full time at the Wick Health Centre. She has special interests in: Child health & immunisation, Cytology, Women’s health, anti-coagulation, Diabetes, Asthma & COPD.
Practice Nurses are fully trained in a wide range of skills including immunisations, health promotion, contraception and management of long-term conditions e.g. advise on diet and lifestyle choices, coronary heart disease, hypertension, asthma, diabetes, smoking cessation and obesity. Practice Nurses can extend their skills at Diploma Level and see many patients who previously would have seen the Doctor.
The Nursing Team run various Nurse-led clinics for diabetes, asthma, coronary heart disease and COPD as well as providing general nursing services, dressings, removal of sutures and blood tests.
Shumaina (f) – Nursing Associate
Shumaina works Monday to Friday.
Clare Bowden (f) – Sexual Health Nurse
Clare works on Tuesdays and specializes in smear tests, coil fittings and implants. She can also offer a range of contraceptive advice.
Healthcare Assistants (including Phlebotomy)
Kelly (f) – Health Care Assistant
Kelly works Monday – Friday
Laura (f) – Phlebotomist
Laura works Monday, Tuesday and Friday mornings
